Bike to Mason Day

Where: Johnson Center North Plaza

Celebrate bike commuting by participating in Bike to Mason Day on Earth Day. Since most GMU students are on break during the regional Bike to Work Day on May 16, they are celebrating the first Bike to Mason Day this year. bikes@vienna is supporting the event by providing free bike checks.

Basic Bicycle Maintenance and Repair

When: Wednesday, May 7, 2008, 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Where: bikes@vienna, 128 Church St. NW, Vienna, VA
Fee: $36, which includes a simple tool kit worth $16.

Learn how to handle the basics of keeping your bike running smoothly and safely! Save money on tune-ups and flat repairs.

Join Tim Fricker, bikes@vienna’s head mechanic for a 2 hour class in basic bike maintenance and repair. Topics covered include flat repair, brake and gear adjustments, basic lubrication, and performing a safety check on your bicycle. In addition, Tim will discuss tools and equipment needed to work on your bike. Contact Tim at tim@bikesatvienna.com or call 703-938-8900 or stop by the store and sign up. Please arrange to pay in advance so we know how many people to expect.

Bike to Work Day

Where: Metro DC area with several Fairfax County locations

Join thousands of area bicycle commuters to celebrate Bike to Work Day. There will be food, drinks, and bicycle-related literature at several Fairfax County locations including our stop in Vienna at the Whole Foods Market next to the W&OD Trail, in Reston at the Reston Town Center, the University Mall across from GMU, Fairfax Corners near the Fairfax Co. Government Center, Tysons Corner, and at the Franconia-Springfield Metro station.

Viva! Vienna! Festival

When: Friday, May 23-Sunday, May 25, 2008

Where: Church Street, Vienna adjacent to the W&OD Trail.

We're having a helmet contest to celebrate Viva! Vienna! and our 10th anniversary. See our blog for more information about the contest.

Bikes for the World Collections

For the latest bike collections by Bikes for the World visit the events page of their Web site. We will accept used bikes for pickup by Bikes for the World. A $10 processing fee is requested to help defray the cost of handling and shipping of the bikes to various locations around the world. Participants will be provided a receipt for the value of the bike and the accompanying financial donation.
